Iodides have been used for actinobacillosis in ruminants and sporotrichosis in horses, dogs, & cats.

Contraindications: Iodide hypersensitivity, lactating animals, hyperthyroidism, renal failure, or dehydration. May cause abortion in cattle.

Very metallic taste, patient acceptance can be problematic.

Do not inject IM; in horses give IV slowly & with caution as severe generalized reactions have been reported.
